Dobbiaco-Cortina Grand Cross Country
Dobbiaco-Cortina Grand Cross Country Skiing Competition
4-5 February 2012
After its historical 30th anniversary two years ago, this year the international cross-country skiing competition will take place along the pathway that follows the stretch of the Dobbiaco-Cortina railway, which was put out ofservice in 1962.
Since its beginning, each year the first weekend of February has seen a repetition of this ritual, to the joy of hundreds of cross-country skiers. On Saturday there will be 30 kilometres of free style skiing, while on Sunday ski enthusiasts can let themselves go on the 42-kilometre marathon.
CORTINA WINTER POLO
19/25 of February 2012 - Lake Misurina
Nestled between Mount Sorapis and the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, Lake Misurina is the picturesque stage for one of the most eagerly awaited events in the international Winter Polo calendar; Cortina Winter Polo on Snow 2012.
As per tradition, the soft carpet of snow is transformed into playing fields for the Cortina Winter Polo, a tournament which in terms of charm and spectacle, has no equal in the world.
Alpine skiing
An activity that is decidedly exciting for those who want to get away from the crowded slopes and plunge into a world of silence. Exactly like that of the Ampezzo Dolomites, with their magnificent extents of sunlit snow, their woods and fauna, the protected area of the Parco Natural Park and the certainty of being able to enjoy the splendid scenes that nature has to offer. Alpine skiing, which involves going up with sealskin on your skis to descend along virgin slopes, restores skis to their primary function as a means of transport for moving around on the snow. The right way to combine the pleasure of an excursion on foot with the passion for skiing
